From Good God! A Gospel Funk Hymnal : The Numero Group : NUM010

If you haven’t figured it out by now, The Numero Group is one of my absolute favorite reissue labels (look here and here). I’ve been steadily collecting almost all their releases since their inception and have to say that there hasn’t been a dull one yet. The quality of the selections along with the remastering work and the liner notes presents a complete package that’s hard to beat.
I’ve refrained from posting selections from the other releases because, well, I’m supposed to post music from other bands/labels/releases. But I couldn’t stop myself from posting a couple of tracks from this compilation.
The fine folks at The Numero Group have done all the dirty work again, sifted through the rubble and compiled the funkiest tracks from various church gospel releases. These tracks are aberations for the various gospel groups, combining the sacred and the profane in ways that should be. These mostly staid, traditional gospel groups decided, for one reason or another to try their hand at the funk.
—–+—–
Like I said last post, posting times/frequency might change for a little bit. Many life changes are going on, but I’ll settle on a new schedule soon. It might just be posting later on Mon Wed Fri, or it might change to include a weekend day, or something.
