Putting Things Together

* Arthur Doyle + Takashi Mizutani + Sabu Toyozumi: 1-01 (unknown) (19.0 mb) | 1-02 (unknown) (8.5 mb)
From Live At Manda-La 2 : Nov 14th, 1997 : Tokyo, Japan

I know the question that’s been on everyone’s minds: what would happen if the crazy free jazz genius of Arthur Doyle (here) and the crazy psychedelic genius of Takashi Mizutani (here) combined forces?!?! Ok, so maybe no one’s asked that question, but that doesn’t mean that someone hasn’t already answered it.

I’d been hearing the rumors for some time that these two had played together in Japan, but could never find proof of it. I honestly just thought it was crazy talk. I almost couldn’t let myself believe that it was true because just the mere thought of those two playing together almost blew my mind. These are two of the craziest sound sculptors out there and I just couldn’t imagine what kind of holy din that they would produce. Well, I finally got my grubby hands on the recordings and let me tell you, the music exceeded my expectations. I could tell from the first notes these musicians played, that I was in for one wild ride. There are some really demanding sounds on here and this is definitely not for everyone. But for those of you who are into unfettered playing and free musics, this is the real deal.

For this concert we’ve got Arthur Doyle on saxophone and flute, Takashi Mizutani on guitar and Sabu Toyozumi on drums.

    Wow, this is just fantastic! Is there any chance you could email me the rest of the tracks, or share them on slsk?

    Many thanks for ripping those two tracks though!
