The Galactic Zoo Dossier magazine is the brainchild of one Mr. Plastic Crimewave (he’s the leader of the Plastic Crimewave Sound). And what a magnificent child it is! The magazine combines the twin loves of Platic Crimewave, Psychedelic music and Psychedelic music. The magazine is beautiful, with about 90% of the magazine both hand illustrated and hand written. This is certainly a labor intensive effort, but also most certainly results in one of the most distinctive looking magazines out there.
Plastic went totally balls out on the current issue, #6, of his magazine. There’s 80 filled-to-the-brim pages of eye popping artistry, there’s 72 damaged guitar god trading cards and there’s 2 cd’s worth of music. And that’s what we’re listening to today. The first cd is filled with vintage sounds, while the second cd (which will be my next post) is filled with modern sounds. And without further ado, Mr. Plastic Crimewave:
32nd Turnoff is not to be confused with U.K. 23rd Turnoff. This is some dirty PCP-addled funk-rock from an unreleased ’70’s live tape - and could that be the Equals & “Electric Avenue’s” Eddy Grant??!
Hailing from the unlikely Colo, Iowa, The Bitter End were a raging garage punk outfit plowing through hits by The Rascals, Davie Allan, & this Yardbirds/Bo Diddley rave up! From 1967, and with my pal Dusty Sparkles’ Dad!
Electric Funeral was a 70’s Swiss group. Somewhere in between ol’ Sabbath & the 13th floor elevators!
I was thrilled to get this demo from one of my faves, the Legendary Stardust Cowboy! Could be from any era, really.

And there you have the first installment of the sounds from the Galactic Zoo Dossier. Stay tuned for some of those modern psychedelic sounds.
