Maybe a year or two back, I went to go see one of my favorite hip-hop artists, Sage Francis. Since I had nothing better to do, I decided to catch the opening acts. When the guy came on stage, I had no idea what to think. He was this skinny little white dude with a shaved head, who went by the name of Edan. He was hard to figure out because he seemed to be equal parts novelty act and hip-hop artist. Nevertheless, I enjoyed his show.

I was perusing the cd’s at my local record emporium about a month back when I noticed that Edan had released a new album. The record cover was vaguely psychedelic looking, with a neat collage of faces with retro looking hairdos. And remembering how much I enjoyed his show, I decided to take a chance and purchase his album. And was I ever glad that I did. The whole album is totally fantastic. It’s a head nodder that sucked me in from the first beat. This is a totally unique hip-hop album that samples with an emphasis on sweet psychedelic soul music.
