Doom Metal

Oh Lordy, I can’t believe the sounds that I am hearing. I’ve been hearing the rumors for quite some time about a band (Sunn 0)))) that was composed of bass and guitar and was so monolothic, sludgy and droney that they made people nauseous at their live shows.
The SUNN0))) mission is to create trance like soundscapes with the ultimate low end/bottom frequencies intended to massage the listeners intenstines into a act of defecation. SUNN 0))) have gathered 2x for live performances, at which they have succesfully made audience members instantly nauseous, or better yet run for the toilet in terror.
The powers that be contracted the heaviest low end destructors SUNN 0))) to create the most subharmonic drone recording ever put to tape. A test impossible for most mortals. Prepare your sound system!
(from their website)
So, I finally got the guts to take a listen to this group and they’re kinda blowing my mind right now. This is like your worst nightmare slowed down to a molasses crawl so that you can experience the terror for just that much longer. Definitely not for everyone.

Thanks, I’ve always wanted to hear these. Truly monolithic, I’ve never heard anything quite like this.

Interesting. Reminds me of the Melvins w/o vocals or mid-80s Swans.
Thanks for the track.

Stack -
those are actually two bands that I’ve been meaning to listen to. I’ve really been into the new angels of light album by M Gira, and I’ve been curious about the swans, but have yet to take the plunge.
also, one of my friends is constantly raving about how awesome the Melvins are, so I’ll definitely be on the lookout for some of their stuff…

[...] When I first heard that doom metal masters, Sunn 0))) (look here) and psych/sludge rockers, Boris (look here), were joining forces and recording music, I just about messed my pants. Even though I thought I knew exactly what it would sound like, I was still as excited as a little boy on Christmas day. I mean c’mon, who better to make some heavy duty drones than these two bands. And, to a certain extent, I was right on the money about how they would sound. This collaborative album is a total, low-sonics sludge ride from beginning to end. From the start, they bring in the doom drones and don’t let up. [...]
