sly in concert

* sly and the family stone: dance to the music | are you ready? | love city
from oct 5, 1968 : thee encyclopedia of ecstacy | fillmore east

well. here’s the third and probably last installment of the sly and the family stone posts. i just can’t get enough of this group. these tracks are taken from volume 2 of the big fro bootlegs entitled thee encyclopedia of ecstacy. this is, especially considering the age, a decent sounding soundboard recording. the way these folks incorporate rock/soul/psych is just absolutely amazing. it doesn’t sound like a hodgepodge of music at all, it’s all totally integrated.

well, as a general rule (being the cynic that i am) i’m usually very suspicious of hippy-dippy subjects. but a couple of my friends introduced me to the enneagram system. it’s a personality typing system using a system of 9 different personalities. now, obviously there’s more than 9 different personality types in the world, but i’m beginning to think there might be something to this system. i’ve been “diagnosed” as a number 5, the investigator, and i’d say it’s actually pretty accurate in describing my personality. kinda freaky actually. at any rate, take a look at it, maybe you’ll find yourself there.

hj - don’t worry. maybe i should’ve said, this is the third and last installment, for awhile. look forward to a couple more tracks from this concert and i think i’ve got another concert from which to post.
also, be on the lookout for more tracks from the big fro label.

jeff - i got these from the now defunct sharingthegroove.com
but i think you can still find both of these release, using bit torrent, on easytree.org
let me know if you need more pointers on flac/shn/bit torrent.
